Why Doormats Are Important

There are several reasons why doormats are important. The most common and obvious of these reasons is that they can keep our floors clean. Aside from that, however, it's also worth mentioning that they can help prevent slips and falls, remove dirt from our shoes, and even serve an aesthetic function. In many cases, doormats can even serve as signs or billboards. A few words or perhaps an image or two can have a very emphatic effect on people entering into your home or establishment.

As you might expect, doormats are very tough and durable. It only takes a few steps to completely clean any particular mat, but this process must be very thorough. We may not always appreciate the importance of door mats, but they can go a long way in protecting a particular building's floors.

Having said that, it's worth mentioning that there are two kinds of door mats used. The first type of mats are those which are designed to remove large bits of dirt and debris from the shoes of people who walk over them. This is done by the mat's tufting, which allows it to scrape the soles of the shoe and hold on to the debris in order to prevent their spread on the floor.

The second type of doormat is a finishing/wiper style doormat, which is a single level entrance matting ideal for removing fine dust and moisture. If placed in the right locations and cleaned regularly, doormats can easily prevent large amounts of dirt and grime from entering into a building. This is particularly true since around 3/4 of a particular building's dirt are the result of dirty feet or footwear. In other words, high quality door mats can easily pay back your investment in buying them by reducing your maintenance and cleaning costs, and this is basically why doormats are important.
